Subject: Mario's '93 comeback in Phili + all girls Harcum College = what a weekend. ..

so i met this girl on the telephone by accident when she called our place in West College actually for a friend in the hockey house next door. .. i find myself going to Phili w/ a friend who lived off Phili's Main Line and that was my destination so I could meet-up with this girl on the phone and hang out at the all girls Harcum College on Phili's main line. .. After a fun night as an overnight (snuck-in) guest at Harcum with a couple lovely coed hosts = the next morning in Coma from teh drinks I had  the nite before my hockey friend informs me that his dad's car dealership has season tix and why not catch the Phili Vs. Pittsburgh game? It would be fun + he heard Mario was returning to the ice after a recent absence. .. Sure, why not? The way the sun was coming into the Spectrum on this hockey afternoon was just looking so cool, so right, while I washed away my Coma with ice cold beers. .. Seeing Mario on the ice was always magical. .. And, I knew it was there = the energy. .. At one point, my MainLine Phili friend said, "man, you better calm down.  ..these fans aren't gonna like it." ... "It's OK, man." I felt just as safe as I did "sneaking" into the space outside the doors of  the Penguins locker-room in the Civic Arena as a kid = seeing familiar faces looking over me while I wait for Pat Price, Paul Baxter, Mike Bullard, George Feurgoson, Bobby Simpson --- and just as safe as I felt skating the little rink in Mt. Lebennon H.S. one-on-one with Pat Price @ the Ken Schinkel Hockey School . .. "It's OK, man," I replied = I knew the magic was there.

Ryan Adams - Lucky Now

I don’t remember were we wild and young
All that faded into memory
I feel like somebody I don’t know
Are we really who we used to be
Am I really who I was

The lights will draw you in
And the dark will bring you down
And the night will break your heart
But only if you’re lucky now

Waiting outside while you find your keys
Like bags of trash in the blackening snow
City of neon and toes that freeze
We’ve got nothing and nowhere to go
We’ve got nothing and nowhere

And the lights will draw you in
And the dark will take you down
The night will break your heart
But only if you’re lucky now

And if the lights will draw you in
And the dark will take you down
But love will mend your heart
But only if you’re lucky now

I don’t remember were we wild and young
All that’s faded into memory
Are we really who we used to be
Am I really who I used to be

My gold marigolds attack
My black bed of roses
I'm going to bring 'em all back

And I know that I won't be
The easiest to set free
And I know that I won't been the last
Cold captain tied to the mast

I recall on the telephone
I recall when you get mad
I'll still love you to death
And I won't ever forget how

And I know that I won't be
The easiest to set free
And I know that I won't been the last
Cold captain tied to the mast

I'm on the other side
I'm satisfied
I'm a spirit dove
I'm looking for your love

I'm simple as a matter of fact
Punch in the nose, dont over-react
But I'll still love you to death
And I won't ever forget how

And I know that I won't be
The easiest to set free
And I know that I won't been the last
Cold captain tied to the mast

And I know that I won't be the one
To securely know when it's wrong
But I hope I know when it's passed
And I hope I'll know when to show you my

The Jayhawks peform "Tiny Arrows" on Soundcheck in The Greene Space

Wandered through the desert
Looking for my way
Under rocks and houses
Snakes burn in the day
Coyote is howling
In the mountains far away

Dusty winters
Leave what's left behind
There are no reasons
To find what I call mine
Fences mean nothing
The sunrise disappears

Sit and watch the river flow
Try and touch the sky

And I don't mind
The sound of the song bird trying
Follow what you can find
Childhood washed away
Where did it go?
Where, where did it go?

The wind is whistling
Coats are buttoned high
Funny people
With nowhere left to hide
The canyon caravan
Rolls along

Sit and watch the river flow
Try and touch the sky

And I don't mind
The sound of the song bird trying
Follow what you can find
Childhood washed away
Where did it go?
Where, where did it go?

Didn't know those tiny arrows
Made of metal, pierced the heart
Didn't know those tiny arrows
Made of metal, pierced the heart
I didn't know those tiny arrows
Made of metal, pierced the heart

Sit and watch the river flow
Try and touch the sky

And I don't mind
The sound of the song bird trying
Follow what you can find
Childhood washed away
Where did it go?
Where, where did it go?

Where, where did it go?

On his website, Garrett McNamara is a self-described "extreme surfer." Interestingly enough, this may be the understatement of the century. The American professional surfer broke the world record for "Largest Wave Surfed" by conquering a 90 foot behemoth. "Extreme" doesn't quite do this feat justice.

Interview with Jim Morrison's father and sister

"Whoever controls the media controls the mind" --- Jim Morrison

The Rolling Stones Before They Make Me Run San Diego 1994

This is about the Rock and Roll lifestyle that got Keith Richards in trouble. The song was recorded while he was out on bail after getting caught with heroin and arrested for drug trafficking in Toronto in 1977. He was found guilty of the lesser charge of heroin possession, and sentenced to probation.Richards sang lead and did the majority of the work on this song. With Keith's drug charges pending, Mick Jagger took a lot of control on the album, but this song was pretty much all Keith. The original title was "Rotten Roll."Richard's vocals were double-tracked to make them stand out.The first bit of the song is about the drug death of Richard's friend Gram Parsons. An engineer named Dave Jordan helped mix this song. He went on to work with groups like The Specials and The Pogues.

Working Class Hero - John Lennon

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty hard years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

The Grilled Cheese Truck: When "Really Cheesy" is a Great Thing

The land of glittery tans and silicon dreams, Los Angeles is no stranger to the many manifestations of cheesy. Meet Dave Danhi, President and Executive Chef of The Grilled Cheese Truck, one of the country's most celebrated food trucks. Here, he talks to Poor Taste about his appetite for seafood, what he loves most about Los Angeles, and the perfect grilled cheese.
What inspired the idea of The Grilled Cheese Truck? "A friend of mine sent me an invite to The Grilled Cheese Invitational back in 2009 and I realized I had never competed in the food competition in all the years that I had been a chef. I went and there was a line over a mile long and over five people wide and that's when I realized that there is such a large grilled cheese food following."

What about the grilled cheese sandwich do you think attracts such a large following? "What I try to bring it back to and one of the reasons for our success is that grilled cheese is the ultimate comfort food and everybody in this country was brought up with a grilled cheese sandwich. We take their childhood food memories and feed their adult palettes. It makes them feel like kids again."

What is your second favorite way to savor cheese? "I'm a purist when it comes to that. I love just a cheese board with cheese at the right temperature and some good, crunchy bread. I love to hit the cheese tastings in Los Angeles."
What makes or breaks a grilled cheese sandwich? "Some people are purists and when I talk to them it's cheddar and bacon, cheese and bread. For me, being the chef, it's a good marriage of flavors and textures– but it's got to be cooked correctly. I feel very strongly that the butter needs to be put onto the bread rather than onto the pan because when you put it on the pan the sandwich feels greasy. I have two people that spend time just buttering the bread."

"We have to re-impress everyone every day. We're the second most followed truck in the country next to Kogi, and never do we assume that there's going to be a line in front of the truck. The goal is to keep impressing people."

As a food innovator in Los Angeles, what do you like about your city? "I like that Los Angeles is so casual and that I don't have to be in a suit and tie in order to eat at a fancy restaurant. One of my biggest reasons as a chef is that the produce here is at the top of the list and the seafood is the best in the country–whether it's the fish markets, the farmer's markets, or the local purveyors."

What about Los Angeles makes it such a promising breeding ground for new food trucks? "One of the reasons is that we're a very spread out city–we're more a horizontal city than a vertical city and I think that has helped with the food trucks, but to be honest with you I think it's more a national thing. This country has never had a large street food culture and I think the country has been dying for a street food culture and due to the economy, people can now go to date-night for 25 dollars."

OK, so 50 of these wild animals have already been shot dead by local officials and now they're calling in the Columbus, OH Zoo to help. ..help shoot the other 30 or so wild animals loose from the Zanesville property w/ tranquilizers so they can preserve their lives and take care of them properly. .. And now Jack Hanna has been called on to help this wild and dangerous (for all involved) situation.
HOWEVER, first Jack Hanna is going to be stopping by Fox and Friends this morn so he can "tell us" what he's "going to do" to help. ..
Being about 100 miles from Zanesville which is nothing for a Grizzly and other wild animals to roam and, for the safety of these innocent animals that were held captive and found themselves free after the murder of their owner, I'd be a lot cooler w/ Jack Hanna getting his expertise to Zanesville pronto and skipping this media opportunity until everything is settled.

Last nite on the back porch while listening to an NPR interview with Mark Olson and Gary Louris on the new and, with patients & understanding, long awaited Jayhawks album --- And they were politely honestly answering the tough questions of a soundingly smart & cute female interviewer - commenting how not having the big hit on the radio and being bigger than what they had become is probably the reality of their longevity and beautiful rabid fanbase = Well, even though Wilco's new album is strangely on the Billboard charts upon its release - I think this odd premise rings true for them too. .. (like a couple others we may know, Ho). ..

This video of Wilco frotman Jefff Tweedy makes me smile and compelled me to grab the heavy Ralph Lauren whiskey drinking glass and my acoustic six string guitar and hit the back porch so I too can smile like this. .. My father's friend, Ted Windt, who was professor emeritus of political rhetoric and a former chair of Pitt's Department of Communication = I wonder what he would think of today's presidential times & rhetoric needed, useful & what we really would remember about them via history???

Obituary: Ted Windt / Pitt professor, expert on presidential rhetoric
Tuesday, October 14, 2003
Ted Windt, a University of Pittsburgh scholar who dazzled generations of students with his passion for politics and language, died yesterday.
Mr. Windt, 67, was an expert on political rhetoric and the author or editor of numerous books and articles on the subject.

He had such a keen, incisive mind; his opinions were expressed with such clarity but never with harshness," Wecht said. "It was truly a great intellectual pleasure to get together with him. He would dissect issues like a scalpel."

Beyond politics, Mr. Windt was an avid sports fan and a collector of 20th century American literature, with a particular interest in the works of members of the Beat Generation, such as Jack Kerouac.

NEW: WILCO - "Born Alone"

NEW. Wilco. BORN ALONE song from The Whole Love.

COOL = this video is reminiscent of videos on MTV when MTV was a platform - a vehicle, if you will - which provided aid in the form of video as a new medium to allow the artists added extensions of expression for their songs. ..

And, well, which was also used to SELL MORE RECORDS through TV (music television). ..

UNLIKE what MTV is now = a giant commercial for the facade of some kind of (cheesy) rock-stardom.

This question was posed to the viewers by WorldNewsNow @ 4amish after Red Eye (which had the lovely Diana Falzone on as a guest and Bill Schulz showing us the schwag from FashionWeek). .. It's nice that some shows and media personalities figured out that including their audience (who they rely to tune in) can really add to the conversation (on many levels). ..(For the hottest women in the New everyday Media I gauge by how dynamic and engaging the personality is w/ in the New everyday Media -as well as attractiveness). ..

Cause I'll ride you 'til the end
Again, bring out the best of me
Make me finally feel there's light
Through black skies and storms
Sometimes I need you for normal
Back to the basics - not so groomed
But knowing who I am in worn Levis

One of the good things the doctor said was it was a "clean break." He sat while others may be watching local NEWS, fixing dinner, driving to some practice or watching "the Five" w/ Greg Gutfeld of Red Eye - he sat and watched life go by - surprising it goes so fast - --faster than the Kentucky bourbon whiskey in his heavy Ralph Lauren glass.

I just want to tell you to tell me - you love me

I been staring @ my hands
Walking city streets alone
Take a stand w/ someone to hold
To create memories in a home

I just want to tell you to tell me - you love me

Seal it with a kiss
I don't even have to be awake
Kiss me on my forehead
So my heart it won't ache
(Oh, it feels like it's gonna break)

I just want to tell you to tell me - you love me

I'll never take you for granted
I'll never go beyond the line
My heart it feels so haunted
I guess I'm just that kind of guy

Hold me tonight
I'm holding you
It feels so right
I always knew

I just want to tell you to tell me - you love me

Obama's Secret Election Connection

Amber Lee Ettinger (The Obama Girl) #14 on mystrawhat.com's Top 75 Hottest Women of the New Everyday Media www.mystrawhat.com

She surely was huge for Obama during his first presidential campaign and I haven't been hearing pundits, late nite and the talking heads mentioning her lately so it must be a secret election weapon -because Obama's strategists can't be that dumb!?!...

Summer's Almost Gone: August noon burn gold into your hair

www.youtube.com
The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California by vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and...
    • John
Wallace Fowlie the author of this book http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/162520.Rimbaud_and_Jim_Morrison gave me a copy and signed it (personalized it) in his home where an orginal Picaso lithograph of Rimbaud + others from like Joan Miro ...hung on his walls = yeah, he wrote something like "to John: Our friendship began here..." ... Only someone like him had the "authority" to turn Jim Morrison into a bonified poet instead of just neanderthal
rockstar = just a few years before this book was published professor Susan Harris @ PSU teaching poetry 101 gave me an "F" on a paper instructed for interpreting a few lines of a poet on the grounds that Jim Morrison was a rockstar not a poet = so, yeah, after that "F" when this book was released I was like so confused not to mention feeling so misunderstood & wrongly graded. ..

Does Mike Wysocki have an exclusive contract with WDVE?
Since he only gets like 2 minutes on WDVE, I'd like to offer him to do 5 min vlogs for a new media outlet called theneweverydaymedia
I'll pay $50.00 per 5 min vlog w/ an agreement for at least 3. However, the *3 vlogs are to work in these themes:
1.       No Shoes Mike Wysocki – Wysocki goes about his everyday without wearing any shoes whatsoever and we get to see how far he gets. ..and how his day goes.
2.       Wysocki has a boiler-maker w/ the Cowboy Libertarian http://www.cowboylibertarian.com/ - either we get to see Wysocki actually having a shot & a beer w/ the Cowboy Libertarian or the attempts Wysocki executes to try and set-up a boiler-maker w/ the Cowboy Libertarian w/ Wysocki commentary.
3.       The Wysocki Social Experiment – Wysocki befriends and follows around five CMU students. He plays the role o f getting them wasted however just wasted enough to throw off inhibitions but not totally wasted to where they're like crying or violent or freaking out at all – just the state of happy creativity and either talking in a group setting or using social media like facebook to conduct conversation around architecture, physics, music, graphic design

*no expenses paid

He's Gone

one of those moments in one of those nights that makes me wish I were there - and, yeah, we don't need to document everything and we should live in the moment and appreciate our mind's eye & it's lovely memories - but I'm sure glad someone captured Tara Nevins from Donna the Buffalo doing He's Gone by the Grateful Dead w/ BK3 @ Toad's Place this lusty month of May = because it sure makes us smile. ..

Happy death-day Elvis = Rusted Root "Suspicious Minds"

I've always liked Suspicious Minds from Elvis since I was a kid - along with Heartbreak Hotel these were two of my favorites from "the King." Rusted Root does a real nice rendition of this song on Stereo Rodeo and live. .. Happy death-day Elvis. ..no one quite ate banana, bacon and PB&J sandwiches like you.

Ali Velshi to be replaced by Ashton Kutcher Tweets & clips: 2.5 anchors

Financially the past decade has been a mess.

Hope arrived,

deflated.

Talking heads positioning themselves
to capitalize on anxiety - the condition
of being unemployed without hope.

Can daddy retire now? Is daddy diversified
enough? .. .

But nothing is new under the sun.
You can't tell me anything different
I know the thing for people like me
- is to wait it out - so let's have fun
while being spoonfed financial NEWS

The other nite @ the Teen Choice Awards
Ashton Kutcher was giving money lessons
on how to stay out of debt & not be a slave
The next day CNN $money give him a deal
to replace Ali Velshi on American Morning
everyday with Tweets & clips & two women
= it's now called = 2.5 anchors

Subject: Ashton Kutcher called "patriot" by Billy O'Reilly last nite

For his "pin heads and patriots" bit Billy O had a clip of Ashton Kutcher @ Teen Choice Awards. ..Billy O determined the new lead of 2.5 Men, Ashton, was a patriot for spouting this message: "hey, man, listen, listen, listen, I don't know how many of you people buy shit on credit cards - but, look, man, if you don't have the hard cold cash to pay it off don't go up with the shit house" . ..

Subject: Intellectual(s)

Being herd into colleges and universities and getting a conventional degree or two continued by more spoonfed information flowing along "down by the old mainstream" doesn't make some one an intellectual.

How about being noted for outside reading in your classes? How about challenging professors? How about being a leader with your peer group? How about being well rounded enough to communicate with a variety a of people type?

And how about knowing people play for keeps - it's cut throat.

How about turning off the bickering on TV and throwing on some old vinyl?

Jeff Tweedy Thinks "Bon Jovi Ruined Music"

My love for Jeff Tweedy has been strong and now it's all-the-way confirmed = yes, someone thinking on the same strand of web in the cosmic web of life. ..

I like and relate to the lyrics, music, imagery and all Jeff Tweedy invokes on his albums and live performances. I don't feel that way about Jon Bon Jovi = no connection. And like Tweedy's saying, "I just don't even understand." ..
