Subject: Jeffrey Miron on CNN's AM w/ Kiran Chetry About Legalizing All Drugs

Hi Kiran:

Your interview with Jeffrey Miron was very enlightening.

It's not everyday a rockstar Harvard economist talks about why we need to legalize all drugs and, moreover, on an international platform such as CNN's AM.

Of course, I agree with Jeffrey Miron's points in regards to reducing demand for illegal drugs and suppliers by making drugs legal. Yes, this would also reduce the horrid violence of the underground - as drugs being illegal puts it in the underground world like alcohol in prohibition - and all their problems are solved with guns and violence as opposed to lawyers and marketing.

However, Jeffrey Miron and you didn't even get into how legalizing drugs would eliminate the big waste of tax payor dollars as we would no longer have to fund the "war on drugs" and all the court costs and prison costs of punishing people for doing, possessing and selling drugs (and then all the problems that come with it being illegal and underground like turf wars, kidnappings, drive by shootings, etc.).

I applaud your progressiveness --- giving Mr. Miron an international platform and I hope that your colleagues --- and I hope that more of your colleagues of the new everyday media give Mr. Miron and his thought provoking arguments a similar platform.

Best of the Roses,

John French
