"Hello" ...

"Hello" = (for Tonya on 2/3/09)

Sun is falling on the snow
Snow is gliding through the air
It's the beginning of February
Spring seems near thinking of you

No, I didn't say goodbye
So, I'll say hello

My fingers are falling on strings
Some kind of pattern with its sound
And I'm thinking of words for you
Notes, patterns & thoughts for you

The last time I saw you we were
High in a hearse with your fans (so high)
And then from the airport your call
I should have come to say "hi" ...

Thank you for being a friend ...
For your music, your song & soul
Leftover Thanksgiving w/ you & Rene

No, I didn't say goodbye
So, I'll say hello

Super Bowl Ratings: Most-Watched In History

Game averaged 98.7 million viewers

By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 2/3/2009 3:55:07 PM MT

NBC was the beneficiary of a massive ratings bump when the Sunday nationals came in from Nielsen Tuesday. The result: Super Bowl 43 was the most-watched Super Bowl in history, barely topping last year's installment on Fox.
The game had an average of 98.7 million viewers, topping last year's average of 97.5 million.
The game was also the second most-watched television program in U.S. history, behind only the M*A*S*H series finale in 1983.
The post-Super Bowl edition of The Office drew a 10.6 rating in the key 18-49 demo and 22 million total viewers, both series highs. Those numbers are down from last year's post-game edition of medical drama House on Fox. That episode drew over 27 million total viewers.
The new Office was also the third-highest entertainment program of the season, behind only the first two episodes of this season's American idol.

Megyn Kelly is SO TOTALLY SMOKING RED HOT THIS MORNING (Ground Hog Day - the day after Super Bowl Sunday) = A+++++++++++++
In fact, if SO TOTALLY SMOKING RED HOT THIS MORNING (Ground Hog Day - the day after Super Bowl Sunday) were a Bruce Springsteen Half-Time Show, I'd rock her for the full twelve minutes ...

Moreover, if SO TOTALLY SMOKING RED HOT THIS MORNING (Ground Hog Day - the day after Super Bowl Sunday) were a stage in Punxsutawney, I'd be all smiles, enjoying it while she pulled out my Ground-Hog as the crowd cheers on in XTC ...

"Dance in the Middle" ... Super Bowl Sunday

Of course I am watching Sunday NFL Countdown (as I do every Sunday) on this Super Bowl Sunday with the AZ, Cards and the Pittsburgh Steelers ...

But, you know, Super Bowl Sunday is also about a vibe and energy and celebration = And, for new music = I don't know of any other song to capture this moment as a Pittsburgh Steeler fan being in the Super Bowl in 2009 other than this song called "Dance in the Middle" from the new upcoming release of Rusted Root = who happen to reside in Pittsburgh and are big Pittsburgh Steeler fans ... ... ... ...

I have downloaded "Dance in the Middle" from "Stereo Rodeo" = the new RR CD to be released sometime in the near future of this early part of 2009. You can feel free to go to my myspace page and listen to this great tune and chill a while @ http://www.myspace.com/mosshead7 The tune will come on as soon as you log on

However, in addition, below is an article by Evan Levy from WNEW in NYC that he posted online @ WNEW.com which includes Rusted Root live in the WNEW studios being nterviewed and playing some tunes --- as well as WNEW covering Rusted Root @ Nokia Theatre in NYC's Time Square. This is all from a couple months ago. Enjoy..

Rusted Root: Live in the WNEW Studio
Posted by Evan Levy on November 17, 2008

The year was 1993 – I was a college student at Penn State and was making my way to a class when something suddenly stopped me dead in my tracks. It was the sound of Martyr from Rusted Root – a song filled with tribal rhythms, agile finger-picking, and what seemed like a chorus belting out the joyful cry “How long should we play the Martyr?”. It was something different, something truly captivating – and as a college student that became my theme song. I immediately ran to the nearest record store and picked up a copy of Cruel Sun, their first CD. They were not signed to any major labels yet, just a really cool band from Pittsburgh that came through town now and again to spread their music. I had the pleasure of meeting them around that time as I worked for a radio station that sponsored some of their shows at a local nightclub and popular ski resort where they played every spring or summer (and I went to every single one and still have all the ticket stubs to prove it).

Years later when I was working for another three letter network, I interviewed lead singer Michael Glabicki and we discussed the Rusted Root Live album that was released. Now, I’m lucky enough to hang out with the entire band to discuss their new album Stereo Rodeo which will be released in early 2009. Their new album is filled with all the different styles you’ve come to expect from Rusted Root and definitely has all the elements you want. From the energetic dance euphoria that Dance In The Middle evokes to the powerful epic sound of Weary Bones. As the band explains, the title of the album just sounded good and as far as Weary Bones goes – there’s two ways to interpret it. Listen Up: Here’s Weary Bones performed live in our WNEW.com studios – Dig it:

The band said that they plan of being on tour for the next few years, so make sure you check out http://www.myspace.com/officialrustedroot for all the tour dates and to listen to some of the songs.

With a new album on the way Rusted Root is back out on the road and proving they can still make 'em move. They brought their bouncing, percussion-heavy funkfest to New York's Nokia Theater on Friday and welcomed fans ranging in age from sixteen to sixty. The setlist included new tunes like Weary Bones and Stereo Rodeo, a unique party version of Elvis' Suspicious Minds, and classic jams like Martyr, Send Me On My Way, and Ecstacy.

Bob: (Long time viewer first time emailer) --- I was just out in Denver and, of course, you know I get around a little and am a bit social, so there were a lot of people who asked me where I was from and when I said Pittsburgh the first thing the majority of these people said went something like, "Yeah, the Steelers = You're in the Super Bowl!" .... and they would comment on how deeply passionate we Pittsburgh are about our Steelers = A few folks commented how nuts Pittsburgh people are about the Steelers. But, you know, there was this general respect and admiration coming through and, I bet you, those people are gonna be cheering on the Black & Gold.

And, my friends in L.A. too and others I meet when I'm out there = They dig the Steelers.

I have to admit, I dig seeing Lynn Swann in the Sewickley Starbucks on a regular basis. It makes me smile like the giddy kid I was watching him in my parent's home w/ my six siblings and my grandmother on my father's side who lived w/ us (and most people couldn't understand her broken English) w/ her rosary in her hands, praying as she did all day everyday but jumping up from her seat to cheer w/ us all (w/ the family) when Pittsburgh did good!!!

Denver Fox

OK, so long before I was posting and emailing as "John French" I was emailing and penning here and there as "Julian Denver Fox" and, at times, a little more naked as "Denver Fox."
Well, as being in delicious Denver last week I can certainly say there truly are indeed some "Denver fox."
Firstly, I have to say the weather exceeded my expectations being 65, 68 and like 70 degrees. I was almost disappointed that I had smartly packed wool Pendelton sweaters and even had my trusty white-waffle-long-john shirt from 1987 with me ready to wear everyday.
However, as in the pic below but in January (last week) I was witnessing and even partaking in late afternoon and evening happy hour outside in Denver, CO.

Now this pic is not mine and is one the website of JAX Fish House Denver, CO in what is considered "Lo Do" ...

JAX was really cool.

In fact, dinner and drinks and/or drinks and dinner were so cool there that I did it back-to-back. The first night I had the calamari Fried (Calamari 10. mango-chile mojo, baked lime aioli) and a great salad and this awesome Colorado Strip Steak w/ a Alaskan King Crab leg.

Yeah, the next day and night I couldn't get that Colorado Strip Steak out of my head so I ordered it again but was lucky enough to able to also enjoy a few other things before and after aside from Moët Chandon White Star (Champagne, FR) like unbelievably fresh Raw Oysters on the Half Shell mkt.$ and Northern Lights Smokeries Black Cod 16. savory french toast, créme fraiche, sturgeon caviar and Prince Edward Island Mussels per pound 9. w/ either sake, lemongrass, thai basil OR red curry cream and for dessert a Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta vanilla - rum caramel, blueberry sauce, creme fraiche whipped cream ...

Well, as you may find the wine list very adequate and intriguing, if JAX finds you adequate and intriguing the "little black wine book" will find its way to you ... This is a true connoisseurs delight as it is not dictated by how big the price or vintage is but rather made up of wines of truly rich character for the pleasure of refined, unpretentious tastes.

Oh, yeah, that Colorado Strip Steak is actually free-range, grass fed, hormone and antibiotic free and is really fucking fantastic prepared medium rare - medium (don't be scared).

And, well, yeah, there are some real "Denver Fox" also on the menu whether working there or dining or just hanging out .. Let's say Jesse was as unforgettable as that Colorado Strip Steak and Lori as chill as the Moët Chandon White Star.

In general, I found Denver Colorado to be beautiful and inspiring = (beautifully inspiring).

The "Lo Do" (lower downtown) is very eclectic and shabby sheik.

Another spot I found interesting but didn't spend a lot of time was the Oxford Hotel - as it had hauntingly familiar pictures of old Denver City and even some original decor, fixtures and materials to match - it kinda casts a spell on you - well, unless you're there to cast a spell on it with/of the pure intent of a good passerby and such ... ... ... ...

"The Mall" is sort of like the long open street in which "the mall" in Santa Monica exits --- expect Santa Monica has "Hollywood Hills Sevan" and the Pacific Ocean and the King's Head and the Britannica ...

So, and, well, if you're into "classy entertainment" the Diamond Cabaret & Steakhouse is "tits" ...

I always heard Denver was pretty "crunchy" and there were a lot of people who dug the Grateful Dead = and I know Rusted Root was through out Colorado about 12 times in 2008 = so I figured it had to be pretty cool, pretty neat ... ... ... ...

I wasn't disappointed.

"People Are Strange"

Video de The Doors "People Are Strange" del Album "Strange Days". Con subtitulos en inglés.

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down
