a Hot Mess

a Hot Mess

It was 1942 or 45
Miss May was just
Happy to be alive
She kissed a sailor
That lived to tell
But never knew
The anonymous hell
And the seed grew into
A little darling girl who
Got the name of Bell
And she’d ring-a-ding
On her pink Schwinn bike
And then in 1966 fell into
The summer and love
And Bobby- he gave her
A diamond ring and
In a church they sang
And Momma was happy
And she sang along with
The man Bell knew as Dad
And whether or not, well,
She was glad he was kind
And Momma always smiled
So that day turned to night
And as wedding nights go
The band played on and on
And fine champagne flowed
Then came the time for bed
He laid her down & said, “Ill
Always love you” and he did
And that night bore fruit that
Came so sweet and was just
The beginning of a life of good
Winnings and just so rightly so
The middle child she was wild
And in her early twenties -in the
Twenty First Century- although
It’s a little tough on us all, wow,
She makes me smile when I look
At her and with her eyes she smiles
And says what a hot mess she is and
She is. What a hot mess she always is

Is S.E. Cupp 2009's Counter Answer to Julia Allison???...

S. E. Cupp featured on the right (no pun intended) very well could be 2009's answer to 2008's Julia Allison (not featured here). ... sure, sure. I've really never jumped on any bandwagon before in my 38 years however I did jump on Julia's bandwagon = or, more accurately, encouraged it and helped to promote it - but, really, she did exemplify a "new everyday media" ... You know it! And, in that respect, as Julia fades away = S.E. Cupp "pops out" and emerges!! No matter your politics both of these women are indeed women of the new everyday media and are hot in their on right. And, well, right now, S.E. Cupp is totally smokin' red hot ... ... ... ...

S. E. Cupp can be read everyday @

"to Love and to Serve"

I have to agree with President Obama when he said how proud he is of the graduating class of Notre Dame 2009 for the way the handled controversy and debate.

I also agree with him saying that this class of 2009 has a tremendous opportunity and a tremendous responsibility like no other generation ....

Until I watched this speech yesterday I was going to call the current book of poems I started early spring of 2009 "New Beginnings" however I am now going to call this new book of poems "Everyday New Beginnings" --- I honor momentous events like graduation and such that are major benchmarks and rituals in life's journey and yet there can be, there should be and there oft are significant new beginnings everyday that bring us to communion with our immediate environment and the cosmos as well ...

By the way, I have finished my last book "the new everyday media" and it is being worked on by my web developer of several years to be placed on mystrawhat.com and include many poems of mine and also what you're really waiting for the Top 75 Hottest Women of New Everyday Media 2009. When "the new everyday media" is fully developed it will be placed as an e-book on mystrawhat.com with the others.

Smokin' RED HOT Snow ...

Kate Snow has been the anchor of the weekend edition of "Good Morning America" since the show launched in September 2004.

Based at ABC News' headquarters in New York, Snow also contributes to various ABC News broadcasts as a correspondent. She frequently reports for "Good Morning America," "World News Tonight" and "Nightline."

A political junkie with a deep interest in world events, Snow has covered a wide range of stories for ABC News. Over the years, she has reported on everything from the economy to immigration, medical advances to Oscar fashions, energy policy to Katrina evacuees. She has traveled to remote Africa, covered conflict in Lebanon and hiked the Badlands for "Good Morning America's" "Seven Wonders" series. And Snow has conducted exclusive interviews with newsmakers from President Barack Obama to billionaire Richard Branson, from Senator Ted Kennedy to Beyonce and Bono.

Snow has covered several presidential elections in her career. In 2008, she covered the campaign of Hillary Clinton from start to finish. For some eighteen months, Snow did double duty as a weekend anchor and the lead correspondent on that campaign during the week. She also covered the Democratic convention in Denver and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's bid for the vice presidency. In the summer of 2008, Snow won kudos for conducting the first interview with former President Bill Clinton in the wake of his wife's failed White House run.

In 2004, Snow was the first network correspondent to travel with Sen. John Kerry during his campaign for the White House. She also covered President George W. Bush's re-election campaign that year.

Snow joined ABC News in July 2003 as "Good Morning America's" White House correspondent. In the summer of 2004 she moved to New York to launch the weekend broadcast.

Prior to joining ABC News, Snow was a correspondent with CNN. She covered the Sept. 11 attacks from the rooftop of a church near the U.S. Capitol, was the first television journalist on the scene of the anthrax attacks and spent weeks covering the 2000 recount in Florida. Prior to her Washington assignment, Snow was based in Atlanta with CNN Newsource. In that role, she covered the Kosovo conflict from Albania and Macedonia.

Snow began her news career as a reporter with KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, N.M., where she also anchored the station's weekend morning show. She has also worked for National Public Radio and NBC Radio.

Outside Lands '08: Wilco, Company in My Back

More from Wilco's set in Golden Gate Park
OK, so usually I sift through a bunch of videos to find the perfect one w/ good visual and sound and complete. However, this video clip is only one minute long and not complete by any means and yet it does serve the purpose of propagating the mood ...

Company In My Back by Wilco (Jeff Tweedy = poet)

"I attack with love, pure bug beauty I curl my lips and crawl up to you

I attack with love, pure bug beauty I curl my lips and crawl up to you

And your afternoon And I've been puking

I move so slow, a steady crushing hand Holy shit there's a company in my back I move so slow, a steady crushing hand Holy shit there's a company in my back

Hide your soft skin, your sorrow is sunshine Listen to my eyes Hide your soft skin, your sorrow is sunshine Listen to my eyes They are hissing radiator tunes

I move so slow, a steady crushing hand Holy shit there's a company in my back I move so slow, a steady crushing hand Holy shit there's a company in my back

You learn so slow, old radiant beauty I'll curve my flight You learn so slow, old radiant beauty I'll curve my flight Under your bended knee And I will always die I will always die I will always die So you can remember me

I move so slow, a steady crushing hand Holy shit there's a company in my back I move so slow, a steady crushing hand Holy shit, there's a company in my back There's a company in my back"

"Closer to Fine"

Lyrics
Im trying to tell you something about my life
Maybe give me insight between black and white
And the best thing youve ever done for me
Is to help me take my life less seriously
Its only life after all
Yeah

Well darkness has a hunger thats insatiable
And lightness has a call thats hard to hear
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it
Im crawling on your shores

I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
Theres more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
(the less I seek my source)
The closer I am to fine
The closer I am to fine

And I went to see the doctor of philosophy
With a poster of rasputin and a beard down to his knee
He never did marry or see a...

Feeling the Same Way ...

The first time I heard Norah Jones was with my wife in the Pepper Lounge in Chicago while we were there on the recommendation of Mr. Michael Glabicki (of Rusted Root and solo career which Bill Siddons = the Doors = manages) while Rusted Root played two way sold out shows at the Chicago House of Blues back-to-back inbetween Christmas and New Year's 2003. So, at any rate, the Pepper Lounge was mentioned to us by an American Eagle executive and definitely delivered. The owner was so cool (and Hot) and she ended-up making reservations for us at her favorite Sushi spot in the Warehouse District by Oprah's studio called Sushi Wabi = which was added to the unreal experience we were already experiencing = fate fing fong ho = A+++

Pepper Lounge

3441 N. Sheffield, Chicago

NOW CLOSED...

Formerly: Wrigleyville residents who venture to try the Pepper Lounge despite its exotic, flaming exterior quickly realize they have found a hidden gem. The Northside brims with intimate fine dining spots, but few serve as late or with as much vigor as this martini bar and lounge. The candle-lit dining room is no bigger than most Wrigleyville one-bedrooms and the intimate booths embrace diners in a deep sea of velveteen. It's close quarters; so expect to rub elbows with the other martini-loving, see-and-be-seeners who flock like moths the Pepper Lounge flames on Friday and Saturday nights.
Meat-lovers may sample the beef tenderloin medallions with Shiraz before indulging in the petit filet, while vegetarians find tasty solace in the four-cheese ravioli tossed in a spicy roma tomato sauce. Patrons often top off the night with a unique martini, but the espresso crème brulee can make one drunk with delight. A popular date spot, the Pepper Lounge recommends reservations on weekends and holidays.

"Put A Lid On It" - Squirrel Nut Zippers (1996)

"Put A Lid On It," by The Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Lyrics:

Put a lid on it
What's that you say?
Put a lid on it
Oh man, no way
Put a lid down on it, and everything will be all right.
Put a lid on it
Don't hand me that
Put a lid on it
I'm all right, Jack
Put a lid down on it, before somebody starts a fight.

Say, every time I turn it loose you cats Come down and cook my goose
When I start I just can't stop
But if you keep this up you're gonna blow your top!
Put a lid on it
Too late this time
Put a lid on it
I've got to get what's mine
Put a lid down on it, and everything will be all right.

Well, grab your drink and clear a space I think it's time to torch this place
Now the girl's in overdrive
But some of your pals want to stay alive!
I'll put a lid on it
I'll put a lid down on it
Save it for another night
