Monkey Socialization: UC Berkeley Breakthrough
Monkey Socialization
At the University of Berkeley, they took a dozen or so of monkey families and had them live in one environment (neighborhood if you will).
One monkey, called Jeem, that had grown-up with Alpha parents that were the obvious leaders of another monkey community was relied upon to teach these other monkeys how to wash their fruit in natural running water before eating. Sure enough, all the monkeys soon followed with the fruit that was given to them all. It became the norm (the standard).
A forward thinking professor at Berkeley then implemented his partly trendy idea that centered around teaching monkeys to smoke – as it is cute and popular with the public and would help in raising grant money from the old money planted in tobacco interests. This experiment would also focus around social behavior.
All the monkeys were given cheap packs of cigarettes to smoke. It was normal for them to sit out in front of their sleeping habitats and smoke these cigarettes and chatter. Jeem was given a pouch of tobacco that was an organically grown and was taught to roll his own cigarettes independent of the standard monkey order and outside of its environment. He was then let back into the environment each day with two to three of these hand rolled organic tobacco cigarettes.
The chatter became outrageous and almost crazed from the other monkeys as Jeem continued to smoke his hand rolled organic tobacco cigarettes and the others continued to only know about their cheap pack of cigarettes. The other monkeys became obsessed with Jeem. And each time Jeem lit up his hand rolled organic tobacco cigarettes they chattered and chattered – hoping squeaky wheel would get the grease and something would alter Jeem's behavior – for what they didn't even know.
Later Jeem was given the same organic tobacco but in a pack. And the others learned to shut up and the whole thing just went away --- Except the fact that it was all recorded and documented and made for an interesting grant on monkey socialization and behavior. The president even read about it.

The Doors - GLORIA - (dirty version); Kim Kardashian Vs. Jim Morrison: (People Who Think They're Better) ...
The only thing I do NOT LIKE about the DOORS is that it seems like they perceive themselves as like they are better than EVERYBODY ELSE = like they are intellectually built superior to even the most elite academics (and elite gossipers who can wreck a person's image as equally as the DOJ). But if we were to consult a Harvard School of Buisness professor about the long term global impact on pop consciousness and bottom line long term $helf life of Kim Kardashian (the most famous and dangerous person in America right now) and Jim Morrison (dead @ 27 in 1971) = the better bet is probably with

He stood in the kitchen prepping for an omelet featuring hot peppers (given to him by the singer songwriter from Trout Swimming or Blind Man's Holiday -one of those upper state NY bands- now turned organic table farmer) from the local farmer's market; garden tomatoes; left over grilled pork loin. As he did the prep work - pulling out the skillet and extra virgin Italian olive oil from Jimmy Sunseri's he started the pee pee dance. "Oh no I really gotta go." He raced down the cellar stairs in the 1920's style bathroom with the toilet against the wall he relieved himself and bars of Ode to Joy sounded in his head. Then, about five minutes later while continuing to cook his breakfast = "it" really started to burn.
As a simple twist of fate though, eating the hot peppers in the omelete did not seem hot at all.

With the right Hollywood savvy, cool, experienced Exec we're working on a documentary film that's about more than half way complete that will tell a nice solid story to help explain How this Happened (and some other good stuff things w/ the Rusted Root of Pittsburgh) --- And, well, can happen for you too. .. (We even have Julia Allison of Bravo's "big hit" new show Miss Advised and a bunch of pop culture relevant other people on film for you = And, we have diagrams, pie charts and statistic graphs = all kinds of good stuff to help to a nice little nonchalant story to make you happy). It's gonna be real professional but hopefully not too professional and serious that it's no fun and too Linked-In.

Stunning & Cool DC HomeFront + Edgeworth Police Dept. BackHome
I find this DC home front near Dupont Circle stunning & cool - although the statues ontop of the pillars are a bit ostentatious. At this time, let me give a shout-out to Edgeworth Police Dept. I never FB while away as a golden rule however I'm confident back home the Edgeworth Police Dept is doing a great job = Me having called them before leaving saying "you have our key, you know our Guardian passcode, these our the lights we're leaving on, here's my cell, no one's to be in the house."

@ The White House this Summer Morning
A Secret Service Agent Guy gave
Parker Bean so much attention in front of the back of White House right before
we placed Parker in his stroller & took this "action" photo of
him trying to get the Layfette Park squirrels. Yeah, the squirrels may be
safe but I gave SecretServiceAgentGuy a list of people who tried to make
trouble for me over the past few years. (Hey, why not, WH Admins do it & it
all comes from the same $ pot).

Close Up The Honky-Tonks (Avalon Ballroom 69)
It was after his show in a Pittsburgh spot that Jeff Tweedy and I over Diet Coca-Cola cans that he was preaching to me about Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Bros. Now, I had just seen Jeff Tweedy w/ his back-against-the-wall at a place called Metropol which Ween said "next time in Pittsburgh why don't you just book us in a urinal in the bus station because the sound would be better and we wouldn't have to stop after midnight for some "fill in the blank" dance night" = And, well, Jeff took LEMONS and TURNED THEM INTO LEMONADE w/ GRAY GOOSE vodka. Best rock'n set ever ... My wife and I still recall this doll of a female local reporter / journalist there for dance-night and was like "who is this Wilco?!". .. Yeah, the same Jeff Tweedy / Wilco / reporter / journalist that told me Gram Parsons Avalon Ballroom 69 was a littlle like the "Neon cosmic Americana of that Coca-Cola machine" we were standing nearby = "never going out acorss life-on-the-road = or well, everyday, on earth - for that matter." ... So, just until last spring when "Bear" from the Grateful Dead Road-Crew finally let us al take a listen to the double CD = two nites of Gram and The Flying Burrito Bros opening for The Grateful Dead San Francisco 1969 did I listen. And, not to sound too much like an archival GEEK but, "wow."

President Obama and Bob Dylan: Medal of FREEDOM
President Obama placing one of the
USA's highest honors upon Bob Dylan = The Medal of FREEDOM.
And here is Dylan's "You Ain't
Going Nowhere" = a rendition by The Byrds (Columbia Records) on Playboy
After Dark from 1968.
(Columbia
felt this Dylan tune and others like Nothing Was Delivered that the Byrds also did
on SweetHeart of the Rodeo may have better chances to reach top of billboard
charts if covered by radio friendly Byrds as Dylan's voice was weird. Keith
Richards best friend Gram Parsons of the Everly Bros. Is the lead singer and
influence for the Byrds at this time).
Yeah, I wonder how many times both
Obama & Dylan were told "You Ain'T Going Nowhere" http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=Q21BF38W3Gs&feature=rel ated

Ashes And Fire (Live Acoustic Version)
Just some real nice simple words and music here. .. (and on the whole album, really - And, well, RYan's career really = thanks to Frank Spadafora for turning me on to him as he also did w/ Ween and a lot of great music).
As he stared past the fire
The hunger to leave, well it gnawed
His poor heart alive
Her skin smelled like black cherry blossom perfume
The sailboats they all sailed by
And a river, she cried
And the wind was suddenly sweeter
Than Rossevelt pie
The windows broke out
And the cigarette smoke was drifting by
The bums on the bowery
The were swallowed in lights
As cars rumbled by in the night
Screaming 'run for you life'
With cool and silvery eyes
And a heart that was fit for design
Drowned in a river of tears
A river she cried
Left her with a heart
Made of ashes and fire
One day there was a silence
It was through the town
There was no reason to speak
So no one made a sound
Her eyes were indigo
Her cats were all calico
And the sailboats
They all sailed by
And a river she cried
With cool and silvery eyes
And a heart that was fit for design
Drowned in a river of tears
A river she cried
Left her with a heart
Made of ashes and fire
Ashes and fire...
Ashes and fire...
Ashes and fire...

U2 - Bullet The Blue Sky (Rattle & Hum)
In the howling wind comes a stinging rain
See it driving nails
Into the souls on the tree of pain
From the firefly, a red orange glow
See the face of fear
Running scared in the valley below
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue
Bullet the blue
In the locust wind comes a rattle and hum
Jacob wrestled the angel
And the angel was overcome
You plant a demon seed
You raise a flower of fire
See them burning crosses
See the flames higher and higher
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue
Bullet the blue
This guy comes up to me
His face red like a rose on a thorn bush
Like all the colors of a royal flush
And he's peeling off those dollar bills
Slapping them down
One hundred, two hundred
And I can see those fighter planes
And I can see those fighter planes
Across the mud huts where the children sleep
Through the alleys of a quiet city street
You take the staircase to the first floor
Turn the key and slowly unlock the door
As a man breathes into a saxophone
And through the walls you hear the city groan
Outside is America
Outside is America
Across the field you see the sky ripped open
See the rain through a gaping wound
Pounding on the women and children
Who run
Into the arms
Of America
