“Flashing There” — New Poem March 2018

"Flashing There"

Crossing the street
Pedestrians and strangers
People having purposes
Stacked beer kegs
The delivery truck unloads
Walking into sunrise
On a cobblestone road
A pigeon's wings flap
The sound explodes
In my consciousness
Everything lost is now known
Stopping to write a poem
Tracing where the bird has flown
Like a worm through the hole
These words are now shown
Pulling thread filling the gap
These moments as fast as a flash
I'm not using a capo
Unless I want what's new to be old
Someone's story that has been told
When it's we who have really grown
Into something built to last
In the corner the evidence moans
Give it an hour to be exposed
In the darkroom taken with a flash
Oh there it is now again what a memory
