PARIS --
Canal Plus will be adding stars and stripes to its lineup when the French pay TV group broadcasts "American Week" on its networks Nov. 1-7.
After a successful "British Week" this year, Canal Plus will show its love for Uncle Sam with a weeklong programming grid devoted to both the presidential elections and all things made in the U.S.
Nightly talk show "Le Grand Journal," which to give Canal Plus its highest ratings, will cross the Atlantic to shoot three live shows from New York beginning Nov. 3.
The channel's weekly movie show, "L'Hebdo Cinema," will focus on the relationship between politics and the film industry in a special Nov. 1 episode.
Red, white and blue programming will include movies "Swing Vote" and "Man of the Year," premiere broadcasts of documentaries "Allez a LA!" featuring a tour of Tinseltown with TV personality Antoine De Caunes, and "Made in America," a serious look at gang violence along with episodes of "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report."
Canal Plus' daily morning show, "La Matinale," will give viewers election results starting at 6 a.m. on Nov. 5 and Gallic sports fans can catch NFL, NHL and NBA games.
The week wraps Nov. 7 with "La Nuit Gay" (Gay Night), featuring "Another Gay Movie," "Fantasmerica" and "We Are Family!," a documentary about nine gay American families.
